[Authentic Account] Gathering of Victims of Unproductive Meetings

This is the eccentric title of the ice breaker that opens AMATA’s facilitation training.

All participants will speak their minds about things at meetings that irritated them, upset them, or bothered them.

・Meetings that end without reaching any decisions
・Meetings that drag on endlessly
・Middle-aged men who start extreme arguments only during meetings
・Unsatisfying conclusions
    Etc…

Everyone seems to have been through a lot.
8 people who are well aware of these problems will spend 4 hours learning about meeting facilitation.

Facilitation originally means “to ease or smooth,” but it is used not only in terms of promoting the progress of a meeting, but also in terms of stimulating organizations and employees to promote better collaboration.

During the training, you can learn many practical facilitation techniques.

・How to structure discussions
・How to properly guide discussions
・How to expand discussions and delve into them
・Important aspects in satisfying decision making
・Facilitation graphics
・How to get out when “stuck” in a discussion
    Etc…

However, the most important thing in facilitation is strong leadership. In order to reach a valuable consensus with colleagues, the facilitator must be able to deal with situations with wisdom and courage.

We were able to complete a  “NOT unproductive” training session, thanks to all participants understanding this thoroughly.
