【18新人シリーズ⑤】新人に与えられているチャンス

四月に入社した新人アーティストの大山です。
今回は私の体験から「新人に与えられているチャンス」をご紹介しようと思います。
①基礎を固め仕事をする準備
あまたでは新人研修の期間をとても長くとっていただきました。
社会人としての基礎知識や心構えなどに一週間、ゲーム制作に必要なツールの習得に三週間と一か月の間丁寧に研修を行ってくれました。
作業ごとに報告書を作成することでただ淡々と作業を行うのではなく、考えて仕事をする練習になっているので社会人としての意識を学ぶ良い経験になったと思います。
また、今年は他の会社さんとの合同研修を行ったりとあまたの新人を教育しようとする意思を感じさせてくれます。
②一通りの仕事経験によるステップアップ
プロジェクトに配属された後、その業務内で行う作業を一つ一つ経験させていただいています。
はじめは工数の短めなものを割り振られ、作業チェックをいただくタイミングや方法などを教わりました。
別のツールが必要な作業なども段階的に着手し、ツールを覚えるので手一杯というようなこともありませんでした。
この点については上記の研修で習得したことが早速活かされる形となりました。
徐々に工数のかかる仕事を任されたりとハードルが高いものになり、成長していけるプログラムを組んでいただいています。
中にはイラストからモーションなど別の仕事とのつながりがある作業もあるので一通り経験し全体を把握することは先の見通しなどに大いに役立ちます。
新人の力を見るという目的もあると思いますがそれぞれの工数は余裕をもって与えられており、無理なく仕事を覚えていける環境を用意してくださっているのはとてもありがたいです。
③様々な社員と接する機会
あまたにはシャッフルランチ制度や勉強会など他の社員とコミュニケーションをとる機会が多く用意されています。
仕事をするうえで人とのコミュニケーションは重要なことですし、通常関わりのない他のプロジェクトの方と話すきっかけにもなります。
会社の人全員の顔を覚えるのは新人の私には到底無理ですが、こういった機会があるおかげで少しずつ会社になじんでいけるような気がします。
仕事の割り振りや工数の調整などもそうなのですが、会社側が新人を積極的に覚えようとしてくれていたりと個人をしっかり見ているという感覚がとても嬉しく思います。
新人の私には今後どこを目指すのか、どのようになりたいかをはっきりと見定めることはできていません。
しかし、あまたでは、基礎をしっかり固めるチャンスと、自分の得意分野を探るチャンスを与えてくれます。
成長への道を指し示し、人との関わりの場を設け、考える機会が多く用意されています。
あまたは成長したいと考える人に手を差し伸べてくれる会社だと感じています。与えられたチャンスを活かせるよう努力していきたいと思います。

【18 New Faces Series⑤】Opportunities Given to Newcomers
My name is Oyama, and I’m an artist who joined the company in April.
I’d like to share my experiences in this post on the opportunities given to newcomers.
① Preparing for the job with a solid foundation
I had a very long period of initial training at AMATA. I received a month of carefully conducted training; 1 week about the fundamental knowledge and mental preparations needed to be a working adult, and 3 weeks to cover the tools necessary for creating a game.
I think that having to prepare a report for each job, rather than just doing them indiscriminately, was good practice for thinking while working. This made the training a good opportunity to gain the awareness needed by a working adult.
This year, can I sense the company’s desire to educate newcomers, in things such as planned joint training sessions with other companies.
② Levelling up from the overall work experience
Now that I have been assigned to a project, I get to experience each job done for that project.
At the beginning, I was given a smaller workload, and I was taught how and when work checks are carried out.
I steadily learned how to use new tools each time I took on work where different tools were needed, so I never had too much on my plate.
Throughout this, what I learned from the previously-mentioned training was put into practice immediately.
Gradually, I have taken on a greater workload, and my hurdles have gotten higher, giving me opportunity to grow.
Some jobs were linked with other lines of work, from illustration to animation. This kind of comprehensive experience helped me to get an overall grasp on things. It became a great help for planning for the future.
I think that the company also aims to see the potential of newcomers, but each person’s workload is given with a margin. I very much appreciate being given a work environment where one can learn the job under realistic pressures.
③ Opportunities to meet a variety of co-workers
There are many opportunities at AMATA to communicate with other employees, such the shuffle lunch system and study groups.
Communication with people is important at work, and these can also be opportunities to talk to people on other projects with whom one is not normally involved in.
It is impossible for me to remember everyone’s faces, but thanks to opportunities like these I feel like I can gradually become familiar with the company.
This is true in the assigning of jobs and the consideration of people’s workloads too, but I am very pleased that the company seems intent on seeing newcomers as individuals, such as in actively trying to remember names and faces.
Being a newcomer, I am not able to clearly identify what direction I will head next and how I’d like to develop.
However, I am being given opportunities to consolidate my foundations and explore my strengths.
I have been shown paths for personal development, provided with environments to interact with people, and given opportunities to use my brain.
I feel that this is a company that will reach out to someone who wants to grow. I would like to make an effort to use the opportunities given to me.
