*English translation below

【18 New Faces Series⑪】3 Months at AMATA

Hello!
I’m Mu, a newly hired artist that joined the company back in April.
For today’s topic I’d like to talk about my “3 Months at AMATA.”

3 months have passed since I first came onboard here at AMATA, and the thing that impressed me the most about this company was the way that AMATA really, truly values people coming from outside the company that they haven’t met yet.
This wasn’t something that occurred to me after I had already been hired, either. It was actually during the interview process that I started to notice this.
When I arrived at AMATA for my interview there were people from the HR department right there to greet me and show me around. The people interviewing me were also very polite and they helped me out whenever there was something I didn’t understand in Japanese.
I knew right at that moment that I wanted to work here at AMATA.

That feeling has only grown stronger since I was hired.
Every department underwent a month long new employee training program, and during the first week we learned about business etiquette and other information about professional life.
I had just graduated from college, so this was really useful for someone like me. I very much appreciated being able to come in and learn so much about stuff that I didn’t know about.

Other than that, I also learned a lot about tools that are essential for making games.
For the remaining three weeks I studied the following tools: Maya, Unity, Spine. I’m from abroad and don’t have a lot of experience with Japanese, and my professional expertise is in a completely different field, so I was a little nervous at first when it came to learning about these tools. But, the more experienced staff was extremely helpful and courteous when it came to teaching.
This training course helped me understand a lot about the essentials for game development, which I’m finding very useful for what I’m working on right now.
I’m delighted that I was able to learn as much as I did during that 1-month period.

I’m assigned to a specific project right now and everyone that I work with is very nice.
My expertise lies outside of games, so there is still quite a bit that I don’t understand.
During these 2 months I did things like banners and effects, and I really got to learn a lot during this period.
I want to make a game of my own, which means I want to learn everything I can across every discipline, and AMATA has given me a chance to do just that.
AMATA is perfect for people like me who want to learn and develop their skills. They give their employees a lot of opportunities for professional development.

There are study sessions and Japanese/English Lunch get-togethers held during the week, which are great for getting to meet other employees at the company that I don’t normally work with. We get to talk about all sorts of stuff and study a bunch while we’re at it.

AMATA is truly a great company and they give employees so many opportunities like this.
I can’t wait to grow and develop even more at AMATA.
