中の人の邦画放談⑩「SUNNY 強い気持ち・強い愛」

「モテキ！」大好きなtomocarlです。大根仁監督作品はやっぱり観ておかないと、ってことで、今回は「SUNNY 強い気持ち・強い愛」を。

20年前のギャル仲間を探す物語、ですか。
うーん約20年前にゲーム業界に入って、それから人生いろいろあったなあ。
→なので劇中の苦労キャラにめっちゃ同情しちゃったよー。･ﾟ･(ﾉД`;)･ﾟ･

（あらすじ）
高校生の娘をもつ平凡な主婦の奈美（なみ）は、実母の見舞いに訪れた病院で偶然、高校の同級生の芹香（せりか）と再会した。対面を喜ぶも、20年ぶりの友達から聞かされたのは彼女が余命わずかであるという辛い告白だった。
そして彼女はこうも言った、「最後に、SUNNYの皆に会いたい」と。
SUNNYとは、高校生だった奈美たちの仲良しグループ兼ダンスチームの名称。
そのリーダー芹香のたっての願いに、奈美は20年間音信不通だった残る4人の仲間を探し始めた。

今作は現在パートと回想パートの２つでできています。それぞれの奈美を篠原涼子と広瀬すずが演じています。トレーラーに見る広瀬すずや池田エライザのルーズソックス映像が印象的で、ギャル映画？のように思いがちですが、ギャル文化にとどまらず世俗や当時の社会をすべて表現しています。

自由奔放でエネルギッシュ、だけど危険も多かった’90年代。もしあなたがこの時代を生きていたなら、この映画を見て当時の自分がどんなふうであったかを思い浮かべることでしょう。また、現在パートで描かれるアラフォーになった彼女らの奮闘っぷりに、今の自分を重ねもするでしょう。奈美が、現在あるいは過去においてSUNNYの仲間に触れるたびに、自分自身の学生時代の仲間に会いたくなる、そんな映画です。おそらく、この作品を観た多くの方々が「同窓会やりたいなー！」と思ったでしょう。

さて、この原稿を書くにあたり、原作となる韓国版「SUNNY」を某映画配信サービスで見ました。韓国版も良いですね！友情ってどこの国も同じだなあって思いました。そして、文化や社会背景が醸し出す空気感の違い、これもたいへん興味深かったです。

なんと「SUNNY」にはベトナム版もあるそうで、さらにはハリウッド版も製作中らしい？ので、これはぜひ見較べないと！って思いました。\^o^/

AMATA Staff Talk Japanese Film, No.10 – SUNNY: Strong Mind Strong Love

“Moteki!” loving tomocarl here. Everyone should see the movies by the director Hitoshi Ohne, so this time around, I’m going to talk about his film, “SUNNY: Strong Mind Strong Love.”

This is a story about searching for the girlfriend from 20 years ago.
Hmmm. I started working in the videogame industry about 20 years ago, and a lot has happened since then.
So I could really feel for the characters going through so much.

(Summary)
Nami is a regular housewife with a daughter who’s in high school. She goes to visit her mother in the hospital when she runs into an old classmate from high school, Serika. She’s excited to see her friend for the first time in 20 years, but her joy is short-lived when she learns her friend is actually dying and doesn’t have long to live.
Her friend says to her, “I’d do anything to see everyone from SUNNY one last time.”
SUNNY was the name of Nami’s group of friends; also their dance team.
The leader of the group was Serika, and as this was Serika’s dying wish, Nami decides to find the other 4 girls, who she has since lost touch with during the last 20 years.

The movie is divided into two parts: the present and the past. Famous actresses Ryoko Shinohara and Suzu Hirose play Nami in the present and the past respectively. In the trailer, the loose socks worn by Suzu Hirose and fellow actress Elaiza Ikeda, a trend that was popular amongst Japanese high school girls during the 2000s, particularly stands out. It makes you think that this is probably just a “gyaru” movie. But it’s more than that, and goes beyond the Japanese “gyaru” subculture to show the trends and how society was back then.

The 90s was a time that was carefree and energetic, but also dangerous. If you lived through this era and you saw this movie, you’d no doubt think back to what you were like at the time. You’ll probably see the struggles of women in their 40s, in the present scenes, and see yourself in them. When Nami sees her SUNNY group of friends, whether it’s in the present or in the past, it’ll make you want to see your own friends from school. I’ll bet this movie inspired a lot of people to hold their own school reunions!

Before writing this piece, I decided to take a look at the original Korean “SUNNY” through a certain film site. The Korean version is really good too!  It made me think that friendship is the same, no matter what country you’re in.It  was interesting to see the subtle differences due to the differing cultures and societies.

“SUNNY” even has a Vietnamese version, and I heard they’re in pre-production on a Hollywood version too!? 
I definitely have to compare all of these movies!
